Arsenal are formulating their plans for the fast-approaching January transfer window, with Mikel Arteta preparing to consolidate after a heavy summer of spending
With international football done and dusted for another year, attention turns to the hectic festive period and, of course, the January transfer window.
Arsenal were heavy spenders in the summer with almost £150million shelled out on the likes of Benjamin White, Aaron Ramsdale and Martin Odegaard, so the chances of new arrivals in the winter appear slim.
However, Mikel Arteta may choose to trim his squad as his new-look side – which is unbeaten in 10 games in all competitions – continues to take shape.
A fresh report from across the Channel claims the Arsenal boss is willing to sanction a sensational exit once the window opens.
Arteta could also pursue targets available for free next summer, with one Real Madrid star fitting the bill.
All that and more in Friday’s Arsenal transfer round-up.
Gunners enter Isco negotiations
Another day, another Isco rumour.
The Real Madrid midfielder, 29, has been linked with a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu for many seasons without a transfer materialising.
Isco has been unable to nail down a starting role under manager Carlo Ancelotti or his predecessor, Zinedine Zidane, and exit speculation may finally be gathering momentum.
The four-time Champions League winner has only started two games this season and he missed all of October’s games with a back injury.
Arteta ready to let Pepe leave
Mikel Arteta is prepared to let Nicolas Pepe leave Arsenal two-and-a-half years on from his £72million arrival at the Emirates, according to reports in France.
Pepe, 26, has only played five minutes of Premier League football across the Gunners’ last three games and he is struggling to work his way into the starting XI.

Arteta appears to favour Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe on the flanks in a 4-4-2 system, leaving the club-record signing out of the frame.
JeunesFooteux claims Arsenal could let Pepe leave in the January window on loan with an option to buy, with Newcastle United, Everton and Crystal Palace said to be interested in the former Lille star.
Carragher admits Ramsdale error
Jamie Carragher claims Aaron Ramsdale has entirely won him over despite his concerns about the goalkeeper’s arrival at Arsenal this summer.
The England goalkeeper, 23, joined from Sheffield United for an initial fee of £24million rising to £30million with add-ons to compete with Bernd Leno.
He has gone on to claim the No.1 spot, keeping five clean sheets in eight Premier League games.

Ramsdale’s form has come as a surprise to many including Carragher, as he had been relegated in each of the previous two seasons with Sheffield United and Bournemouth.
“It feels like there’s something about Arsenal right now it feels like there’s a coming together,” Carragher told the Wrighty’s House podcast.
“The ‘keeper, I mean, if I’ve ever been wrong more about a player than Aaron Ramsdale then I don’t know which one it is yet.”
