Emmerdale character arrested for Andrea’s murder as killer Meena frames them

Emmerdale’s latest episode saw detectives make an arrest over the recent death of Andrea Tate, but it wasn’t her actual killer, Meena Jutla, who was taken in

Emmerdale: Meena leaves Andrea for dead in burning maze

Emmerdale aired an arrest on Wednesday night, after detectives launched a murder investigation regarding Andrea Tate’s death.

In the closing moments of the episode, it was Andrea’s former mother-in-law Kim Tate who was accused of murdering her.

Andrea’s real killer Meena Jutla actually framed the long-time village villain, after fearing she would become a suspect because of her statement.

Kim had had a huge row with Andrea over her daughter Millie the day before she died.

Andrea didn’t want Millie anywhere near Kim, after the apparent death of Kim’s son and Millie’s dad Jamie Tate.

As things escalated, Kim was horrified to learn Andrea had taken out a restraining order against her to keep her away from her and her daughter.

Meena kindly informed the police of this when they came snooping, following the decision to launch a murder enquiry.

The detective had suggested it was “odd” how Meena apparently didn’t see Andrea in the maze or at least hear her, with Meena in there too.

Meena had to think on her feet, as she was asked what else happened in the lead up to the death, given it was now considered to be murder.

He reminded the character that she had claimed the maze was already on fire when she entered, and how she had apparently seen Priya Sharma in there.

She once again denied knowing Andrea was in there, before adding: “With all the smoke she could have walked right past me, so could the killer.”

Faking concern that the killer was still at large, she quickly decided she needed to frame someone else to get herself out of the spotlight.

She told him: “Actually, there might be something… forget it, it’s probably nothing and I would hate to get someone into trouble. I wasn’t a witness, not to anything in there anyway.

“[I witnessed] an argument between Andrea and someone else. Kim Tate hated Andrea, she was her daughter-in-law, and with her son Jamie gone, Andrea was gonna make sure she didn’t get to see Millie, her granddaughter.

“Andrea took out a restraining order against her and Kim was furious. She threatened her and said something like, ‘You’re gonna need more than a restraining order to protect you’.”

Moments later, the officer arrived at Home Farm and wanted to question Kim about the row and her whereabouts when the accident happened.

As Kim refused to accompany him to the police station, he arrested her on suspicion of murder and she was led away.

Kim was mortified and told him he had made a big mistake, but will Meena’s plan work?

Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7pm on ITV, with an extra episode at 8pm on Thursdays.
