Married At First Sight UK star Amy Christophers believes the new series is so “wild” that Love Island looks distinctly mild in comparison, more like Downton Abbey.

The hit Channel 4 show, now on E4, is known for its explosive parties and plenty of drunken dramas, all of which TV viewers have lapped up ever since it hit our screens – while the UK version is normally very different to the other versions around the world.

The improved sixth series started with a gripping first episode that didn’t disappointment.

“MAFS makes Love Island look like Downton Abbey,” stressed Amy, a sports presenter, in an interview with The Sun.

Speaking from her home in Falmouth, Cornwall, Amy revealed: “Expect explosive dinner parties, drunken commitment ceremonies with lots of tears and swapping spouses.”

The 34-year-old babe joked: “Sometimes I thought I was on that other programme Wife Swap.”

The first episode of the new series aired on Monday, exactly one week after ITV2’s Love Island 2021 final, and fans have loved the drama so far.

Two new couples sensationally tied the knot in a blockbuster start to proceedings, with Channel 4 producers having taken notes from the Aussie version of the show, which proved to be a surprise lockdown hit with close to two million viewers.

The grooms discussed their dream partners, but the cheeky brides were quick to confess how they they couldn’t wait to get intimate with their new husbands.

Vet nurse Morag, 31, joked: “I need to learn to keep my legs shut”.

And fellow contestant Amy bragged her deal breaker was a “f****** big ****.”

None of the cast look shy, with this year’s crop of newbies including a cosmetic surgery enthusiast, former glamour models and an ex reality star.

Joshua Christie, who played rugby sevens for Jamaica and was also in the 2019 series of Shipwrecked, is one of this year’s contestants.

Model Alexis Economou, 28, and Amy, who had a successful career as a glamour girl under the name Brandy Brewer, as well as three personal trainers are all taking part.

Amy is set to marry her man on the next episode and she was happy to boast about her new husband’s manhood.

She added: “When we were on our wedding night my husband got out of the shower and walked around naked. Let’s just say I copped an eye full of his package and they had delivered.”
