Corrie legend ‘cut drug addict daughter out of £550,000 will’

A Coronation Street star reportedly cut his daughter out of his £550,000 will after her struggles with drug addiction.

The late Johnny Briggs played factory boss Mike Baldwin in the much-loved soap for 30 years.

The actor, who once lived in Stourbridge, died in February this year at the age of 85.

Five of his six children received his UK and US assets, including a house in Florida.

But his will made no mention of eldest daughter Karen Briggs, who he disowned when she allegedly gave her 14-year-old daughter class A drugs, the Sun has revealed.

And sadly, his relationship with 55-year-old Karen never recovered.

Shockingly, in 2016 she and Johnny’s granddaughter, Emma Beach, now 37, were jailed for stealing bikes to feed their drug addictions.

The pair have racked up a large amount of criminal convictions. Karen allegedly blames her parents’ break-up for her heroin problem.

Johnny earned a whopping £200,000 a year as one of the ITV soap’s biggest names until he finally left the cobbles for good in 2006.

His estate was split equally between Jennifer Davies, 43, Michael Briggs, 41, Stephanie Briggs, 39, Anthony Briggs, and Mark Briggs, 58.

Johnny was a real-life ladies man who divorced twice and had a string of extramarital affairs. One of which was with an air hostess half his age.

He joined Coronation Street in 1976 and went on to appear in 2,349 episodes before he left the show in 2006.

In a statement following his death, his family said: “It is with great sadness that we announce the death of our father, Johnny Briggs.

“He passed away peacefully this morning after a long illness, with family by his side. He was 85.

“We politely ask for privacy at this time, so that we can quietly grieve as a family and remember the wonderful times we had with him. Thank you.”
